Automatic micro-screw removal uses automated equipment to complete the whole sequence of positioning, seating, reverse rotation and screw pick-up. It often shares a station with automatic fastening: fastening drives screws in, removal backs already-tightened screws out under controlled torque. The two share the motion platform, feeding and control system, but their process parameters and control strategies differ.
In 3C electronics, precision modules and wearables, screws in the M0.8–M2.0 range are widely used to secure structural parts and modules. When a product needs a material change, repair or teardown, these screws become the object of the removal process. For such stations, reliable small screw removal equipment is a precondition for rework efficiency and yield.
First, size. Screw heads are often under 1 mm across, with shallow recesses and a small contact area for the bit, so tolerance for misalignment is extremely low. Second, the torque window. Only a few units may separate stripping from snapping, and a handheld driver struggles to stay inside that window. Third, material and plating. Micro-screws are usually stainless steel or nickel-plated carbon steel; some carry thread-locking adhesive or coatings, so after long-term tightening the removal torque is not symmetrical with the assembly torque.
Many assume removal means backing out at the assembly torque, but in practice that assumption does not hold. Removal torque must account for tightening duration, thread-locking adhesive, thread engagement condition and how well the bit matches the recess. A sound approach is a servo driver with multi-stage torque and speed settings: locate the screw at low speed first, then back out at the set torque, with real-time judgement and stop protection on abnormal torque. An automatic vision screw removal machine with CCD positioning provides a more stable alignment basis for this step.
Automatic micro-screw removal suits 3C structural-part rework, module material changes, pilot-line teardown and after-sales repair. For in-line stations with many short, small screws, an M0.8-M2.0 screw removal solution can be integrated with the upstream and downstream sections to form a continuous automated flow. When selecting equipment, focus on three points: torque control accuracy and multi-stage settings, the compensation range of vision positioning, and whether the machine supports combined fastening/removal with multiple recipes. Shenzhen Honred Technology provides non-standard custom solutions for automatic screw driving and automated assembly, covering micro-screw removal and vision fastening.
